Chincoteague Island View

SOLD

Chincoteague Island View, 8x10, oil over acrylic on canvas

Last summer we put about 5000 miles on the car road-tripping. It was work-related but we managed to have fun in between as well. One of our fun stops along the way was to

Chincoteague Island, Virginia. It's a small island in the southern part of the Delmarva peninsula which is the long stretch of islands that stretch from Virginia Beach northward through Maryland and then Delaware. I'd never been there before but I wouldn't mind returning- it was a very relaxing little town filled with the typical restaurants and antique stores, and last but not least- horses!

We stayed at a lovely inn on the water called the Waterside Inn,
and our charming room overlooked the scene above, which I painted from my balcony. I had forgotten about the painting, but came across it the other day and decided to post it. I started with acrylics and finished up with oils. Here's a picture of me painting the scene from our balcony.
