Last night I had fun pushing bright paint around on the canvas without worrying about whether or not the painting would come out "Right". Some days a painting comes out just right, but there are more often days that a painting is headed for the trash heap. I have been struggling lately to improve my painting skills through refined brushwork and the use of less colorful pigments. The results have been less than successful, probably because I simply don't enjoy painting with a brush, nor do I prefer tonalist colors. So I think after the holidays, I will just return to painting the way I used to paint- with lots of texture and bright colors, and the heck with the people that have told me my color is too wild.

This painting has juicy, thick paint passages in vibrant color and is just waiting for a place to call home.

I am most happy painting with a palette knife in this loose, abstract impressionist style and I really don't know why I try to mimic the "representational" artists since I really can't say I enjoy painting in that style.

So loose and free- that is me! I had fun painting this, and I hope that you like it as much as I enjoyed painting it!
