"Lost", paintings of tropical islands, by maryanne jacobsen

"Lost" 16x12, oil on masonite

If anyone has been following me on Facebook, you'll know that I've gotten hooked on the TV series "LOST" recently. Although I didn't watch the show when it viewed on primetime, my husband and I have been watching it courtesy of Netflix these past couple weeks. We're into season 2, so I know we have a ways to go, but it's been a fun journey so far, albeit spooky.

Lately, I've been in a dry spell-painting wise. I had been trying to find a source of inspiration for new paintings recently, and suddenly today it hit me. Paint the beach at LOST! Heck, after watching it every night for two weeks, I felt like i could paint it in my sleep!

So that's what I did. (No, I didn't paint it while sleeping!) I think the series was filmed in Hawaii, and although I have never been there, based on the cinematography, it seems like a paradise on earth! Hope you like my new painting.

I did the Lost thing for awhile after the fact too. Somewhere into season 3 or 4, after throwing so many new characters at me, I became unattached and they lost me.
