"Afternoon shadows- Santa Barbara", 20x16, oil on canvas (Note: you can click on the painting to view the impasto)
I've been working on this one for the last few days. This is a much larger painting of the same scene that I painted in a smaller format last week.
Whenever it takes a few days to complete a painting, I feel that I lose the spontaneity of the event that made me want to paint the scene in the first place. I actually like the smaller version better.
I guess I'll always be an alla prima painter, as dragging this stuff out too long drives me nuts.
This painting is going into the annual Windsor of Lakewood Ranch, Florida art show.
Exhibition dates are March 4-13. Reception March 3rd.
