"Sofia's Memories", 16x20, oil on linen
This painting of a young Ukrainian woman in festive costume, has undergone quite a few revisions since I first painted it back in 2008. So I decided that the painting deserved a new name. The thatched roof building, and far off windmill are memories of old Ukraine, and the memories are triggered by the colorful garb that the woman has donned for festival celebrations, hence the new title.
Here is what she looked like before the revisions:
As you can see she's a new woman, and although many people liked her in her original state, I was never happy with the small mouth and the bleached out skin tones.
