"Catherine's Restaurant" 9x12, oil

Awhile back I passed this adorable restaurant in Unionville, Pa, while traveling to a site to paint during the Plein Air Brandywine Valley Festival.

I am a huge sucker for brightly -colored awnings, so I knew I'd have to paint this!!!!!
Evidently, Catherine's is a very popular restaurant in the area and has been written up many times  by local newspapers for its fine cuisine. I have added it to my bucket list as a must-do restaurant the next time we are up in that area.

I decided to paint something fun today and that's when I noticed that there is "Stripe" Challenge going on this week over at Daily Paintworks.

I couldn't resist painting these double windows with striped awnings, and blue shutters with striped wooden planks!

As I mentioned yesterday, I took Dreama Tolle Perry's 3 day workshop on Marco Island this past week. This is one of the paintings that I did in class. I was very happy to meet Dreama in person as I have always admired her work. I enjoyed the workshop and I was also happy to turn out this happy little painting!
