"Peaceful Cove", 8x10, oil, Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, palette knife painting, texture, clouds, ocean, fish shack, blue, red

 "Peaceful Cove", 8x10, oil

It's been awhile since I posted. Without going into detail, the past few months have been really hard on many levels. So I was grateful to be able to produce anything after all these weeks.

I used mostly a palette knife and there's some sweet texture in this little piece.

It's a peaceful scene of a little red fish shack up in Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia. I've painted this scene before, and it brings back positive memories for me of clean fresh air, long vistas of sand and sea and the bracing smell of salt, sea, and the ice cold Atlantic.

"First Light, Rockport Harbor", 12x16, oil on panel, paintings of Rockport Massachusetts, Maryanne JAcobsen art, Rockport harbor, sunrise, baots, clouds

Sold
"First Light, Rockport Harbor", 12x16, oil on panel

My husband and I discovered Cape Ann back in 2011 and have gone back since almost every single year. I think it is my favorite place in the entire world. The light is like no other and there is so much charm in the seaside villages that dot the North Shore peninsula. Over the years it has become home to hundreds , if not thousands of famous painters, who also discovered it's charms and chose to either live there, or escape there.

When we visit there, we have developed a habit of getting up just before sunrise, grabbing some coffee and then head over to Rockport harbor to watch the sunrise. It's always a beautiful sight, and afterwards, we get to watch the fishman loading their boats with bait, as the gulls circle around, waiting for breakfast. Then they head out, to catch the delicious fish that New England is famous for.

I've taken many photos of those sunrises over the years, but this week, I finally decided to use one for for a painting. I'm not sure it captures the actual beauty of the scene, but then again, only the Creator can do that.

"Majestic is His Name", 8x10, oil on panel, paintings of sunsets, clouds, scrub pines

SOLD
"Majestic is His Name", 8x10, oil on panel

 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
in the heavens.
2Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
3When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?c-
.-Psalm 8

Sunsets speak volumes about God's majesty. I never grow tired of the ever-changing colors, shapes and majesty of God's Sunsets. This was painted from a photo that I took at Venice Beach Florida, recently, just as the sun was in its final descent. There are two pine trees there that have been dubbed the "Twin Sisters" because they seem to be interlocked in an eternal embrace due to their proximity to each other. I love looking at the different shapes that they make at different times of the day. Sometimes eagles nest in their branches. God is good.
