Happiness are friends, hugs and a sunny doorway. And if that doorway includes flowers and vines that's icing on the cake!

I think it would be hard to believe that such a sunny doorway would lead anywhere but to a home filled with joy and gladness. How often do we stop and thank the Lord for his goodness, mercy and blessings?

I try to do it on a daily basis, but inevitably I know it's not enough.

I found this lovely poem on this site, and I loved it! It reminded me of my many friends, and of the friends I have made who collect my art and have told me over and over how my art fills their home with light and love. I give thanks for all these people as I step each day over my threshold to joy.

A Simple Thank You, My Friend

Into the dim lit, bare walls of my world,
You entered, bringing light and life to me,
The vivid colors, painted with a swirl
Of wit and charm, of personality,
With tender care, you added comfort, warmth,
And images that line the now bright walls.
I look upon them fondly, bringing forth
A thankfulness that you walk in these halls
With me; our friendship has become a part
Of my world now; it has its special place,
Within my being, life, and in my heart,
Your name hangs right beside your smiling face.
Remembering just how drab these walls had been,
I have to thank you for the light, my friend.

This is one of those paintings that fell together without much effort. No preliminary sketch, no intense thought behind it, just lots of vibrant color and fun! Loved painting it, and since it fell together rather quickly I have priced it well under my normal pricing structure to sell quickly. The photo does not do justice to the painting as the impasto and brush strokes cannot be seen.

This painting was the result of two things.

#1 I had recently sold one of my favorite paintings ("God's Palette") which had been hanging in my family room since I painted it about 3 years ago. I sold it last month and the gaping space above the couch in the family room was really bothering me. So I set out to paint another "God's Palette".

The result is different, as it's always impossible to duplicate what you've done in the past. I then struggled with whether it was as good as God's Palette or not. Family members were supportive and assured me that it is as good or even better, but definitely different in color temperature and paint application.

#2- In using a lot of happy color, I was trying to get my mind off of the depressing state of affairs in the gulf of Mexico, but my daughter-in-law pointed out that my use of cool colors over the past 6 weeks is a bit indicative of my mood. Anyway, I do love this scene very much, and I think the fact that I've painted it a number of times reflects that love. It is a scene from Chester County, Pennsylvania where I lived for many years, off of French Creek in Birchrunville, and I certainly miss those beautiful autumn colors now that I live in Florida.

This painting is on hold and has been promised to a new collector who was disappointed when "God's Palette" sold and asked me to keep her in mind if I ever did another. The lady that is purchasing this painting, has said that she still prefers "God's Palette" to my new painting. I am hoping she will change her mind when she sees this in person! The colors are very vibrant and after touching up some passages yesterday, I can finally say that I am very happy with this painting.

The colors in this painting will definitely make you think of mangos and Margaritas, (or at least that's the way my mind works!) This was painted en plein air on a beautiful Florida morning, and it has beautiful thick passages of juicy impasto.

This painting, which I titled "Grapes and Gratitude", has an airy abstract quality, and has lovely passages of thick impasto. Painted with palette knife only in pinks, lilacs, blues and muted greens, it would make a wonderful addition to your contemporary art collection.
